12 Easy Ways to Pay Your SECO Energy Bill

Paying your electricity bill on time is crucial to avoid service interruptions. SECO Energy offers members 12 convenient payment options to pay their monthly bills. As a SECO Energy customer myself, I’ve tried several different payment methods over the years and want to share my experiences to help other members.

Online Payment Options

Pay Online via SmartHub

The easiest way to pay your SECO Energy bill is through SmartHub, the online member portal. After creating a SmartHub account, you can view and pay your bill online 24/7. SmartHub also allows you to track daily usage, set up recurring payments and paperless billing.

I love the convenience of paying through SmartHub, It takes just a few clicks on my smartphone to pay each month, SmartHub also sends payment reminders and outage alerts directly to my phone

Pay Online at secoenergy.com

You can make one-time SECO Energy bill payments on secoenergy.com without logging into SmartHub. Just enter your account number email address and payment info. It’s quick and easy for those who don’t want to create a SmartHub account.

The online payment form accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, debit cards and electronic checks. A $2.50 convenience fee applies to debit and credit card payments.

Pay via SECO’s Mobile App

SECO Energy offers a free mobile app with SmartHub access built right in. Members can download the app on their Apple or Android device to pay bills or manage their accounts on the go.

The app makes paying easy when I’m out running errands or traveling. I especially like the app’s interactive outage map showing current electrical outages.

Automatic Payment Options

Sign up for Bank Draft

Bank draft deducts your monthly SECO Energy bill directly from your checking or savings account. This automatic payment option helps avoid late fees and service disruptions.

Register for bank draft in SmartHub or fill out a form to authorize monthly withdrawals. Make sure to still monitor statements for draft dates and amounts I recommend bank draft to simplify bill payment

Enroll in Recurring Payments

In SmartHub, you can schedule recurring payments from a credit card, debit card or bank account. Pick the payment frequency – weekly, monthly, etc. – and payment date.

Recurring payments are great for my rental property’s utility bill. The payments process automatically each month so I never miss a payment when the tenant portal reads the meter.

Pay by Phone

Call the SECO Energy automated phone system anytime at 1-877-371-9382 to pay your bill by phone. The system accepts payments via credit/debit cards, checks or MoneyGram.

I prefer paying online over the phone since I pay early each month. But the 24/7 phone line is a nice option for those who need to call after business hours.

Pay by Mail

Mail your SECO Energy bill payment to:

SECO Energy
PO Box 70997
Charlotte, NC 28272-0997

Always include your payment stub to ensure proper crediting to your account. Allow 5-7 days for mailed payments to process.

I only mail payments as a backup option if I can’t pay online. The processing and mail transit time has caused late fees for me before.

In-Person Payment Options

Pay at a Member Service Center

Visit one of SECO Energy’s five Member Service Centers located in:

  • Eustis
  • Groveland
  • Sumterville
  • Ocala
  • Inverness

The centers have walk-in lobbies and drive-thru windows to pay your bill in person. Cash, checks, money orders and credit/debit cards are accepted.

I prefer paying at a service center over mailing a check when I need to pay with cash or money order. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

Pay at Other Authorized Payment Locations

SECO Energy partners with retail stores and payment centers that accept bill payments. Locations include:

  • Fidelity Express – $1.50 fee
  • MoneyGram – $1.50 fee
  • Western Union – $1.50 fee
  • VanillaDirect Pay – $1.50 fee

Visit secoenergy.com to find authorized payment locations near you. I’ve used these options while running errands to avoid an extra trip. The convenience fees are worth it in a pinch.

Budget Billing

SECO Energy offers a Budget Billing plan to even out electricity costs over the year. Your bill is recalculated every month based on a rolling 12-month usage average.

Budget Billing prevents seasonal bill spikes in peak summer and winter months. I recommend customers with variable seasonal usage enroll to stabilize their monthly power bills.

MyWay PrePay

With MyWay PrePay, you pay for electricity before using it. Monitoring your real-time usage and account balance helps take control of your bill. It’s a pay-as-you-go system with text/email alerts.

PrePay plans work well for renters, seasonal residents and members on tight budgets. While I haven’t used it myself, PrePay offers flexibility that standard billing lacks.

If you’re struggling to pay your SECO Energy bill, payment assistance resources are available:

  • Call 2-1-1 to find local bill payment assistance agencies

A Caution about Third-Party Bill Payment Sites

SECO Energy members are advised to exercise caution when utilizing third-party sites to process their monthly bill payments. Typically, these third-party online payment services allow consumers to pay multiple bills, including those from utility providers, to a site that is not associated with SECO Energy. Some of these third-party sites even go so far as to use our logo and colors to make you think you’re transacting with us. SmartHub is SECO Energy’s only online payment service. SECO Energy is not affiliated with any other online payment service.

When using unaffiliated services, there’s no guarantee when your payment will be processed. This uncertainty could lead to late fees or a disruption in your electric service if SECO Energy receives your payment after its due date. Additionally, third-party payment sites often charge processing and other fees for using their service. To avoid potential issues, we strongly encourage members to pay their electric bill using one of our approved ways to pay listed on this page. If you have any questions or concerns about a company’s affiliation with SECO Energy, contact us at 352-793-3801.
